Mentees are identified through Khulisa’s multiple NGO partners or our current programmes.  For example, school-going students between 14 and 18, leaders of child-headed households, those affected and living with HIV/AIDS, parents, vulnerable youths, university students and first time employees. All mentees are already part of a programme and are supported by a local infrastructure.

The recruitment process

  • Involves a workshop on mentorship and storytelling
  • A mentee application form is submitted
  • Parent or guardian endorsement is required where appropriate (-18)

Baseline assessments are conducted in order to ensure measurable personal development. This monitoring and evaluation is ongoing during the entire engagement with their mentors.
